• DIR Therapy

Play-based & child-centered

DIR® (Developmental, Individual Differences, Relationship-based) therapy focuses on understanding each child as a whole person - how they think, feel, communicate, and experience the world around them. Rather than focusing only on behaviors, this approach supports the devlopmental foundations that help children learn, relate, and communicate.

What DIR Therapy Often Looks Like

DIR therapy is playful, relationship-based, and guided by each child's unique developmental profile. Rather than following a rigid program, sessions are shaped by the child's interests, strengths, and needs.

In a DIR-session you may see:

  • Playful, child-led interactions

  • Joining a child in their interests and expanding their ideas

  • Sensory exploration through movement, play, and creativity

  • Building emotional and social connection through shared engagement

  • Supporting expression though gestures words and all forms of communication

  • Helping children develop flexibility, problem-solving, and confidence

Every session is designed to support meaningful growth while honoring who the child is and how they experience the world.

Because when children feel connected, supported, and understood... growth naturally follows.

  • Process

Our Process

We know every family’s journey is unique, and every child has their own way of seeing, feeling, and interacting with the world. That’s why our process is designed to feel supportive, simple, and centered on your child from the very first step. Start with a complimentary 15-minute consultation an opportunity to connect, answer your questions, and understand your child a little better.

If it feels like a good fit, we’ll move forward with a thoughtful evaluation, learning more about your child’s strengths, challenges, and unique way of learning. From there, we’ll create a personalized plan with gentle, practical strategies and meaningful goals working alongside you to support growth, connection, and confidence in everyday life.

Unsure if DIR® is right for your child?

Some kids take the world at their own pace. Maybe they have big emotions, get easily frustrated, love movement, or notice things in ways others might not. Or maybe you just feel your child could use a little extra support. That’s okay. That’s exactly what we’re here for. DIR® therapy isn’t about forcing change it’s about understanding your child, meeting them where they are, and helping them thrive through connection, play, and relationship-based learning.

What Sets Us Apart

Connection is at the heart of everything we do. Kids grow best when they feel safe, understood, and seen. We follow your child’s lead, celebrate their wins (big and small!), and partner with families to create growth that sticks. Our goal is to make therapy feel supportive, collaborative, and genuinely human because every child deserves that.
